Residents, fondly referred to as family members, and team members at Catherine House Care Home in Frome, were delighted by a special visitor – Santa Clause! He stopped by to spread good cheer and officially mark the start of Christmas for everyone.
The day’s highlight was the fantastic performance by Professor Paul Wheeler, who brought his traditional Punch and Judy Show as a Christmas gift into the home. Though often seen as children’s entertainment, Punch and Judy can hold a special significance for people living with a Dementia. The familiar antics of the cheeky puppets evoked a sense of comfort and happiness, as familiarity can spark positive emotions and create meaningful moments.
Kim Viner the Somerset-based home’s administrator, shared: “It was brilliant to see family members and our team enjoying such a wonderful day together. Professor Wheeler’s Punch and Judy Show was a fantastic addition, made even more special by his generosity in bringing the performance to us as a gift. It’s events like these that truly bring us all closer as a community.”
