Afternoon tea was served just as you’d hope, neat cucumber sandwiches, slices of Victoria sponge with strawberries and cream, and for those who fancied it, a glass of Pimm’s filled with fruit and mint. Each table had its own theme, from a Mad Hatter’s corner to a seaside-inspired spread, adding a touch of fun to the occasion.
As the afternoon went on, people shared their own thoughts about the day. Barbara looked around the garden and simply called it “a tranquil setting.” Henry whilst at the keyboard, said how lovely it was to see everyone so relaxed, enjoying the music and the company, “thank you for having me to your garden party,” he added. “What a lovely occasion, seeing all the residents enjoying the ambience and afternoon high tea.”
Relatives spoke warmly too. Mr. Ash mentioned that the music was “not too loud and very appropriate for the afternoon,” while Heather smiled and said, “It was lovely to see everyone out.”
Their words, along with many others, turned what was already a cheerful gathering into a great summer afternoon.
It was the little moments that gave the afternoon its charm for family members – Pauline clapped along from start to finish, keeping time with Henry’s songs while Alan chatted cheerfully about how much he was enjoying the sandwiches and his Pimms, while Tina from the domestic team passed on a comment from one family member who had simply summed it all up as “brilliant.”
